Getting ready for our big day. The plan was to climb about 4 hours to Barafu, rest until midnight, and push toward the summit. We could feel the summit looming. It just had a presence right there. You could feel the pressure from above.

Lots of fog on Day 5, wtih a glimpse of sky. The universal joke seems to hold true: if you don't like the weather then wait 15 minutes. I've heard it in a few countries, seems like it has spread like Coca-Cola.

The rocks got a lot rougher as we went up the hill toward our base camp at 4600m AMSL. The rocks became much more jagged as we climbed.
