Emily and Elije descending into the fog on day 3. We went up and down a lot on day 3. We climbed up to acclimatize and then down to sleep. "Climb high, sleep low" is the old climbers' mantra.

Our campsite (Barranco) on the third night, with the fog rolling in. Barranco had an amazing view; to the right (downhill) there was a steep dropoff approaching a cliff that disappeared until hitting the floor of Africa. It was amazing; it looked like we were at a 10,000 foot cliff. To the left are steep canyon walls looming above the campsite. Behind the camera was the summit of Kilimanjaro. Amazing.

People climbing the cliff wall out of Barranco in the morning. The same steep looming canyon walls happened to be the path out. When we saw the little dots crawling up the hill we were in awe. It turned out to be not nearly as bad as it looked.
