Descending from Stella toward Barafu. We stopped at Barafu for an hour or two, just long enough to catch our breath, then kept going down to 3000m AMSL for the night.

Ants. They apparently bite. Their nest stretched across the entire trail. Certainly a strange place to build a nest, but who is going to mess with biting ants?
